Dr Margaret Holmes (’3 8), a pioneer in biomedical science, passed away on 28 November 2016. Margaret began her science career at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in 1938 as a junior laboratory technician, while also working part-time towards a science degree at the University of Melbourne. This vale led to her interest in epidemiology, which she went on to study in London, and later at Fairfield Hospital in Melbourne, rejoining the Institute in 1958, where she made It is with great sadness that the Ruyton community notes the passing of the significant contributions to immunology research. following Old Ruytonians: In the late 1970s Margaret became Janice (Jan) W.
